Professional title and supervision

The title of lawyer (avocat) was granted in Belgium. Marouane Bezdi is registered on the roll of the Brussels Bar (Ordre français des avocats du barreau de Bruxelles). He is subject to the professional rules of AVOCATS.BE, available at avocats.be.

Professional indemnity insurance

Professional indemnity is covered by the collective policy taken out by the Bar with Ethias SA, Voie Gisèle Halimi 10, 4000 Liège, enterprise number BE 0404.484.654. Cover applies worldwide. Claims falling under the jurisdiction of the courts of the United States of America or Canada are excluded. The same applies to claims before courts applying the law of those States.

Fees

Fixed fees and retainers are published on the fees page. Every instruction starts with a written engagement letter stating the scope, the price and the payment terms.

Consumer dispute resolution

A consumer client who is not satisfied may refer the matter to the Ombudsman service of the Ordre des barreaux francophones et germanophone. That service is a qualified entity under Book XVI of the Belgian Code of Economic Law. Its address is Rue Haute 139 box 20, 1000 Brussels, online at obfg.ligeca.be. Referral is free of charge. It requires that an amicable solution has first been sought and that the dispute is not before the courts.

Disciplinary complaints

The Ombudsman service has no jurisdiction over disciplinary matters. Such a complaint falls to the President (bâtonnier) of the Ordre français des avocats du barreau de Bruxelles, Palais de justice, Place Poelaert, 1000 Brussels, [email protected].

Governing law and jurisdiction

Relations with the firm are governed by Belgian law. The courts of Brussels have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection provisions.
